back on the water again

After what feels like forever the boat from the outside has been painted and sealed so she now floats and well probably the most time consuming and frustraiting part has been completed. Think that she looks so much better in blue with a red antifoul bottom
atahings to complete are the electrics and finishing off the inside, after then its making sure the rigging is updated for her first sail next year

Fiberglassing

The hole left when the sea toilet was removed has now finally been fiberglassed. My freind spent last saturday sorting out this and the roof. Removing the airvent and the aluminum block, put there by the previous owner. I am going to have a Mast Tabanacle as I dont like the Jaguar mast foot. Another main structure point that requires work is the mast compression post. This has collapsed down on the keel housing and again the previous owner has tried to pack it out with wood. I do think that JUNO has been through quite a hard  active life before I brought her.

Refit well underway

It has been ages since I have put anything down in regard to working on JUNO. I am now a member of Skegness Yacht club, having decided that is where I want to sail from ( being very cheep and friendly helps) the race is now on to make JUNO ready.  The first thing  was to sort out getting her lifted out of the water and plan the work required. Unlike when I owned HOLLY  most of the work I will be doing  although some of the work will be done by Nev ( good mates always help).
Work so far has been to remove the Sea Toilet , with the help of the Aretia blog site ( thanks Chris), clean off all the remaining growth and barncles and start the general clean plus sanding ready for painting ( I have decided to paint the hull blue ) and looking at the dreaded drop keel.  When JUNO was lifted up so we could drop the keel again using the Aretia site but looking under the boat that is when the difference showed up. It looks like this has already been done before and by the state of the bolts holding the keel hangers on not that long ago either. Nev and myself decided that the best action is to put longer bolts in, clean up the area fiberglass and then paint with antifoul.  I have been busy putting the new electronic equipment on to the boat plus a new electronic pannel.
During the easter holls I have got to paint the hull and deck so it is starting to look better already

My new Boat JUNO

After spending a few months finding a replacment for HOLLY my Bradwell 18 sailing yacht. I stumbled across an ebay add showing a Jaguar 22 sailing yacht called JUNO in need of TLC but can be sailed as is and looking for a new home , she was based at Preston Marina . After a coupleof bids I was the eventual winner so I have been planning the next chapter of what will be required and where I will hope to sail next year. With excitment I set off last week to spend a night on my new boat with my son and dog called Tilly.
